Capt. Amrinder Singh and his Govt continue their Anti-Scheduled Castes stance by opting to refrain nominating a Scheduled Castes IPS officer for the post of DGP of Punjab – Kainth
There should be a candidate from the SC community in the list of nominees for the highest Police post of the State – Kainth

“Under the guidelines, any IPS with over 30 years of experience in the Police Force can be considered for being appointed as the Director General of Police of a State but ignoring these guidelines and also the verdict of the Supreme Court, the State Government headed by Capt. Amrinder Singh of Congress has opted to ignore many deserving IPS officers for this highest position in the Police department. It seems like they are trying to push an appointment which shall be favourable to their own interests. Many deserving and well experienced IPS officers are being ignored especially the fact that No IPS belonging to the Scheduled Castes community has not even been nominated into the panel up for consideration infront of the UPSC.” Said Paramjit Singh Kainth, President of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance.
He further alleged, “In case of a one IPS officer from the SC community, the meeting of the Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) was even stopped by the CM office so as to stop the Officers from attaining the eligible criteria. Such instances clearly indicate that the Capt. Amrinder Govt has some sort of a vendetta against the Scheduled Castes community. Repeated instances of harassment and atrocities on the SC community in Punjab require that an officer belonging from the community can take matters seriously and provide justice to the aggrieved families and victims.”
Kainth said, “The State Government should as soon as possible provide for the name of an Officer from the SC community to the panel up for the consideration by the UPSC under the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court.”
