Case of murderous attack on Shiromani Committee employees at Sri Darbar Sahib by the protesters
Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) members led by Bhai Longowal filed a writ petition in the name of the Chief Minister
Chandigarh
Dismissal of cross case against Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members and employees on October 24 following the murderous attack on SGPC members and employees by sit-in protest in front of SGPC office at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. A large number of members, including Shiromani Akali Dal president Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal, who had gone to hand over the memorandum to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, staged a dharna outside the Chief Minister’s residence for some time. Arriving at the Chief Minister’s residence along with all the office bearers and members of the Shiromani Committee, Bhai Longowal demanded that the persons of the so-called honor committee who had in the past inflicted murderous attacks on the members and officers of the Shiromani Committee and seriously injured the employees. Arrest immediately and give severe punishment as per law. He said that on the one hand these people locked the main door of the SGPC office and used abusive language towards the employees who were going to eat langar at noon and after that they attacked with sharp weapons and injured several others. Surprisingly, those against whom a pamphlet has been filed by the SGPC are being allowed to roam freely instead of being arrested. What could be more tragic than the fact that these people are openly meeting the Commissioner of Police and other senior police officers, but they are not being arrested. Bhai Longowal said that it was clear that the Punjab government was backing them.
In a memorandum to the Punjab Chief Minister, he said that the cross leaflet issued against the members and employees of the Shiromani Akali Dal should be canceled immediately and the people of the so called honor committee who attacked the Shiromani Akali Dal employees should be arrested immediately. If this is not done then the Congress government of Punjab will be responsible for the atmosphere created. Meanwhile, Capt. Amarinder Singh, Chief Minister of Punjab Mr. Ankit Bansal after receiving the memorandum from the President of the Shiromani Akali Dal Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal said that he would present it to the Chief Minister.
Earlier, Shiromani Committee President Bhai Longowal and all the members of the Shiromani Committee held a massive gathering at Gurdwara Sri Kalgidhar Niwas Sector 27-B and slammed the Punjab Government for its attempts to disband the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee. He also condemned the incident and reprimanded him for refraining from such incidents. The spokespersons said that the Congress government has always carried out anti-Sikh tactics, an example of which was the 1984 Sikh genocide. Whenever a Congress government was formed, Sikh issues were suppressed and direct attacks were made on Sikh institutions. The latest example is the 40-day dharna at the Golden Temple complex and the murderous attack on Shiromani Committee employees on October 24, 2020. This would not have happened if the government and the police administration had picked up the protesters in time. He also said that some of the Congress ministers had the support of these so-called honor committees.
