CBSE Class 10, Class 12 Board exam 2018: All about the passing criteria

Passing criteria for CBSE baord exams
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is about to release the date sheet of Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2018. Students are waiting for the schedule to be announced soon as they need to prepare for their board exams.

Once the same will be released, all the candidates can check the same at cbse.nic.in

Usually students, who appear for their board exams, get worried about their results thereafter and about how much marks they need to pass in their board exams.

Here, we are sharing the criteria for passing marks for both the classes 10 and 12, so that the students can give their best in the board exams:

Criteria for passing marks (Class 10):
In order to be declared as having passed the examination, a candidate shall obtain a grade higher than E (i.e. at least 33 per cent marks) in all the five subjects of external examination in the main or at the compartmental examinations
No overall division/distinction/aggregate shall be awarded
A candidate failing in two of the five subjects of external examination shall be placed in compartment in those subjects provided he/she qualifies in all the subjects of internal assessment
A language offered as an additional subject may replace a language in the event of a candidate failing in the same provided after replacement the candidate has English/Hindi as one of the languages
Criteria for passing marks (Class 12):
In order to be declared as having passed the examination, a candidate shall obtain a grade higher than E (i.e. at least 33 per cent marks) in all the five subjects of external examination in the main or at the compartmental examinations. For the subject related to practical work, 33 per cent marks in theory and 33 per cent marks in practical, along with 33 per cent marks in aggregate is required
No overall division/distinction/aggregate shall be awarded
A candidate will be eligible to get the pass certificate of the Board if he/she gets a grade higher than ‘E’ in all subjects of internal assessment unless he/she is exempted. Failing this, result of the external examination will be withheld but not for a period of more than one year
A language offered as an additional subject may replace a language in the event of a candidate failing in the same provided after replacement the candidate has English/Hindi as one of the languages
Exemption to spastic, blind, physically handicapped and dyslexic candidates:
Dyslexic, spastic candidates and candidates with visual and hearing impairment have the option of studying one compulsory language as against two. This language should be in consonance with the overall spirit of the Three Language Formula prescribed by the Board. Besides one language, any four of the following subjects be offered:Mathematics, Science and Technology, Social Science, Music, Painting, Home Science and Introductory Information Technology.
