CCPCR team inspect GMHS 22
Chandigarh, 15th December 2017- Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights visited Govt. Model High School, Sector 22 C, Chandigarh to inspect the infrastructure in view of safety & Security of the children and Implementation of the RTE Act 2009. Chairperson of the commission was accompanied by Ms. Viney R Sood, Member, CCPCR, Mr. Kartar Singh, Law Officer CCPCR and Mr. Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, CCPCR.

The Following observations were shared with In-charge and staff of School:-
1. There was no proper maintenance of the building of the school.
2. The cleanliness of the School was not properly maintained. Toilets were not properly cleaned.
3. There is no proper earmarking of washrooms indicating girls/boys in the school. However, the In-charge ensured the same will be executed in proper manner.
4. Wild growth around and Car body Scrap within the school premises which needs to be removed immediately for child safety.
5. Installation of complaint boxes as advised in the advisory of CCPCR in the junior wing also and increase the number of Complaint boxes for students needs to be fixed in proper place and access to the children. The same should be checked by the In-charge on daily basis.
6. Play grounds and swings need to be maintained.
7. Commission suggests the In-charge that she should take up the matter with the Horticultural Department so that the wild growth be removed and waste scrap needs to be maintained properly.
8. In-charge, School was also advised to take up the matter with the concerned department for maintenance / re-strengthening of school building wherever, required.
The School In-charge assured the inspection team that she will take up the matter with the concerned department on priority basis as she has recently taken over the charge of the school.
