Chrysanthemum show ends with prize distribution
Commissioner appealed citizens to join hands with MC to make Chandigarh No.1 in Swachh Survekshan: distributes “Swachh Awards”
Chandigarh, India December 10, 2017::Heavy rush during concluding day of the Chrysanthemum show at Terraced Garden in Sector 33 of Chandigarh on Sunday, December 10 2017.
Chandigarh, December 10:- The beautiful 31st annual Chrysanthemum Show ends with prize distribution function and cultural shows at Terraced Garden, Sector 33, here today. Sh. Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh was chief guest today and he gave away prizes to the winners of various events organized during chrysanthemum show in presence of Sh. Rajesh Kumar Gupta, Senior Deputy Mayor & area councillor, Sh. N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer B&R, Sh. Krishan Pal Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture, MCC.
During the function the Commissioner also gave away “Swachh Awards” to the winners under various categories. The Swachhatam Ward 1st position award was received by Sh. Rajesh Kumar Gupta for ward No. 16, Sh. Devinder Singh Babla, area councillor for ward No. 18 received 2nd position award and Smt. Raj Bala Malik, area councillor ward No. 2 received 3rd position award under Swachhatam Ward awards.
During the programme, the Commissioner appealed to the citizens of Chandigarh to join hands with Municipal Corporation in this mega exam to make their city No.1 in Swachh Survekshan-2018 and keep their city neat clean. The MCC also displayed a stall in the Terraced garden under “Swachh Bharat Mission” to create awareness among masses regarding Segregation of waste at source level and to download Swachhata MoHUA app.
The Chief Guest went around the garden alongwith Sh. N.P. Sharma, Superintending Engineer B&R, Sh. K.P. Singh, Executive Engineer, Horticulture division and other senior officers of Municipal Corporation to see the various flowers exhibited there with different permutations and combinations.
The Chief Guest applauded the efforts of the officials of Municipal Corporation for organizing such a beautiful show. He said that it was a great show, keep it up and make Chandigarh No.1 in India in the every field.
Gardeners of Horticulture Department, MC in the show have made boat, camel, peacock, cow, giraffe, lion and many other animals and birds using flowers. Near about 266 varieties of Chrysanthemum have been displayed in the show. The beautiful displays of the Chrysanthemum in the Show have helped Chandigarh in acquiring international fame.
A cultural programme was also organized by the students of The Gurukul School, Sector 29, Panchkula.
Later, the Commissioner and other officers of MC distributed “Swachh Awards” to the following winners in various categories:
