Chandigarh
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Friday expressed profound grief over the sad demise of former District Congress Committee President, Patiala Urban Prem Kishan Puri (79), who passed away at Patiala after a heart attack this afternoon. He is survived by his wife and three sons.
In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Puri as a dedicated soldier of the party, who worked tirelessly to strengthen its rank and file besides playing a vanguard role in ensuring overall development and growth in the region. Recalling immense contribution of Puri in championing the cause of downtrodden and unprivileged sections of the society, Captain Amarinder said that he would be ever remembered by one and all for his qualities of head and heart. A vacuum has been created in the party circles with his death, which is difficult to be filled, he added.
Puri was elected twice as councillor and remained DCC President, Patiala Urban from 2006 till January 2019. He also served as Director on the Board of Directors of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Limited.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family, friends and relatives, the Chief Minister prayed to the Almighty to give strength to them to bear this irreparable loss and grant eternal peace to the departed soul.
