STATE GOVERNMENT TO SPEND RS 100 CRORE FOR THE REJUVENATION OF THE GOVERNMENT ITIS AND VOCATIONAL INSTITUTES

Technical Education Minister Mr. Charanjeet Singh Channi today blamed the contemporary Sikh organizations patronized by Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) leadership for promotion of Dera culture in the state.

Interacting with the media persons on the sidelines of a function to mark job fair at CT institute here today, the Minister said that the contemporary Sikh organizations led by Akalis have blatantly ignored the weaker and underprivileged sections of society in the state. He said that due to this alienation the weaker and underprivileged sections of society gradually moved towards Deras, which led to their strengthening in the state. Mr. Channi said that Akali dominated Sikh organizations miserably failed to practice the basic tenets of Sikhism including harmony, equality and brotherhood in right earnest, which further fortified the position of Deras in the state.

On another issue, the Minister said that in order to frame the curriculum of Technical institutes as per the need of industry, the state government has given nod to set up a Research and Design (R&D) centre at Maharaja Ranjit Singh State Technical University, Bathinda. He said that the centre would restructure the syllabus of Technical institutions as per the requirements of industry by taking in account all the factors at ground level. Mr. Channi said that this would help in providing a pool of skilled manpower to industry on one hand and opening new vistas of employment for the youth of state on the other.

Referring to allegations leveled by leader of opposition Mr. Sukhpal Singh Khaira, the Minister said that the Aam Aadmi Party leader was cannon of negativity. He said that the allegations leveled by Mr. Khaira were baseless and irrational adding that they were very far from the truth.

The Minister also announced that the state government would spend Rs 100 crore for the rejuvenation of the government ITIs and Vocational Institutes in Punjab. He said that the process of appointing the Vice Chancellor for Punjab Technical University has already started and the university would get a new regular Vice Chancellor very soon. Likewise, Mr. Channi said that the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the University would also be appointed very soon.

Earlier addressing the students, the Minister said that this job fair would provide golden opportunity to every youth of the state to get employed. He said that in the first phase the target of the state government led by Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh was to provide jobs to the common youth of the state, who were hitherto denied jobs during Akali-BJP regime. Mr. Channi said that under this ambitious drive 50,000 youth would be provided jobs by 900 industrial giants, who were visiting the state during these fairs. He announced that Chief Minister would hand over appointment letters to these 50,000 youth on September 5.

The Minister said that the wheels of the state government have been set in motion to provide maximum employment opportunities to the youth. He said that as some youth were not interested in doing jobs and were desirous of opening their own ventures, so the state government would soon organize Rozgar Melas across the state to facilitate such youths.

Earlier, in his address MLA Mr. Pargat Singh hailed the decision of the state government to hold these mega Job fairs to provide jobs to the youth. He called upon the youth to adapt the new changes in the society and empower themselves with the tools of education to excel in life.

On the occasion, the Chairman of institute Mr. Charanjeet Singh Channi, Mr. Mandeep Singh Channi and Mr. Harpreet Singh Channi welcomed the dignitaries. They also felicitated the dignitaries on the occasion.
