Setting an example before the police personnel of other districts, the Karnal police have extended a support of Rs 40 lakh to the widow of sub-inspector Narinder Kumar, who was killed near the Rohtak court a few days ago while saving the life of a girl.

Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria handed over a cheque of Rs 20 lakh to Narinder’s wife Veena Devi in his office. The money was contributed by the policemen of the district from their salary.

Bhoria said the police personnel had contributed Rs 20 lakh earlier too, which was handed over to the family members last week. Earlier, the state government and the HDFC Bank had extended a help of Rs 60 lakh to the family members.

The Superintendent of Police said they had decided to extend a help of Rs 40 lakh and most of the police personnel had contributed towards it.
