REITERATES FIRM COMMITMENT OF STATE GOVERNMENT TO START FLIGHT ON STIPULATED TIME PERIOD

Reiterating the firm commitment of state government to start the flights from Adampur airport on stipulated time, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today directed the concerned departments to complete all the construction work on project within 10 days.

The Deputy Commissioner, who inspected the ongoing work on the ambitious project, categorically said that any sort of delay in work on this prestigious project was totally unwarranted and undesirable. He said that though the erratic weather condition has delayed the work for some time but still the deadline of September 25 to start the project could be easily achieved. Mr. Sharma said that any sort of laxity in accomplishing this task in time bound manner would be dealt sternly.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the officers of PWD and Airport Authority of India to set up their camp offices at the site to expedite the work. He said that besides giving push to the work this would help in better monitoring of the ongoing work. Mr. Sharma also said that he would personally monitor the progress of work on daily basis.

Assuring fulsome support and cooperation from district administration to accomplish this task, the Deputy Commissioner said that this project would play a vanguard role in giving a major fillip to development of the region in particular and that of Jalandhar in particular. He said that this airport would facilitate the NRI brethren to stay connected with their roots in a better manner. Mr. Sharma also said that this would also facilitate the people to travel in any part of globe by air thereby saving their time, money and energy.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner also announced that in a major gift to people of Kandola village who have given their land for project, the state government has approved a project of Rs. 57.26 lakh for water works of villages. He said that the work on this project would also kick off very soon.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by officers of district administration and Airport Authority of India.
