SMAILEY MAHEY AND RICHA GHERA HAVE BEEN SELECTED FOR THIS AWARD BY AMBEDKAR FOUNDATION

The Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma today handed over Demand Drafts worth Rs 20,000 each and citation certificate to two bright students of the district under the ‘Dr Ambedkar National Merit Award Scheme for Meritorious Students of Senior Secondary School Examination belonging to Schedule Caste (SC) community’.

Both the bright students Ms. Smailey Mahey and Ms. Richa Ghera have bagged these awards due to their marvelous performance in the 12th standard exams conducted by state/ Central Boards/ Councils. On the basis of their marks the students were selected by Dr Ambedkar Foundation, an autonomous organization under Ministry of Social Justice and Employment that implements several welfare schemes/ programs relating to welfare of SCs/ STs. This award has been given in recognition to the academic excellence and meritorious performance of student in 12th examination held in year 2016.

Handing over the Demand Drafts to Ms. Smailey Mahey and Mr. Rajinder Kumar Ghera father of Ms. Richa Ghera, the Deputy Commissioner complemented them for this rare feat. He said that this award was the recognition of hard work and dedication of both the students, who have burned midnight oil to excel in the field of academics. Mr. Sharma asked the students to continue this hard work and strive hard for excellence in future.

Complementing the students and their parents for dreaming big, the Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration was ever ready to help such meritorious and needy students. He any such bright student could approach the district administration for any sort of help in future also. Wishing the students a successful career ahead, the Deputy Commissioner expressed hope that every dream of these young girls would become a reality soon.

Ms. Smailey Mahey, who is daughter a driver, was student of Meritorious School Jalandhar and was now pursuing BDS degree. Likewise, Ms. Richa Ghera, a student of Police DAV Public School, Jalandhar Cantt was pursuing her graduation degree in Political Science (Honors) from Hindu College, New Delhi. A bright student Ms. Richa aspires to become an IAS officer after clearing the coveted UPSC exam
