Debt-ridden farmer of freedom fighter’s family commits suicide
Faridkot, January 09, 2018 : Gurdev Singh Sandhu a farmer of Chahal village of Faridkot district committed suicide. He was reportedly under debt of over Rs. 25 lakh. He was the grandson a freedom fighter late Udham Singh.



Gurdev was reportedly under depression due to outstanding loan. He was also said to ashamed of the fact that being a grandson of freedom fighter, he was under debt.
His body was found hanging at his tube well on Tuesday.
Zora Singh, relative of the deceased said that government must take care of the freedom fighters families as they sacrificed their lives for the country.



SHO Mukhtair Singh reached at spot and started the investigation. He said that body has been sent for postmortem at Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot.
Police have also initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
