Despite Supreme Court’s ban, reports of Triple Talaq still pouring in

Even though Supreme Court has declared Triple Talaq as unconstitutional and government is committed to bring a strict law, reports of men still giving instant triple talaq are still pouring in from various parts of the country.

In Uttar Pradesh, a married woman from Nandauli village of Sultanpur district was given Triple Talaq on phone from Dubai. Rubina got married on 17 May 2012 and her husband gave her Talaq on 18 December 2017. The victim has filed a case in a civil court.

Similar case has been reported from Rampur. Ayesha Khatun from Azeemnagar says, her husband asked for ten lakh rupees to continue wedding. When her family refused to give the money as her family is financially weak, her husband said Talaq three times on phone. Police has registered a case of dowry.

In Gonda district of UP, husband gave triple talaq on phone from Dubai after wife asked for money for the treatment of a sick daughter. Sakeena’s husband informed his family about talaq following which she was sent back to her parent’s house. Sakeena now talks of fighting a legal battle.

In Bareilly, a husband allegedly thrashed his wife & gave triple talaq over dowry issue.
