DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION TO OBSERVE BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO WEEK FROM OCTOBER 9-14
MOVE AIMED AT CREATING AWARENESS AMONGST THE PEOPLE TO REVERSE THE DECLINING TREND IN THE CHILD SEX RATIO

In a bid to create awareness amongst the people to reverse the declining trend in the Child Sex Ratio (CSR) the district administration would observe Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao week-The daughters of New India, from October 9-14.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting presided over by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh here at District Administrative Complex. Presiding over the meeting the Additional Deputy Commissioner said that the primary aim of the scheme was to address the issue of declining child sex ratio and promote the importance of girl child. He said that above said week would also include October 11- the day which is globally celebrated as International Girl Child Day to promote empowerment of girls and reinforce gender equality.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner said that in this week District/ block/ tehsil level consultation meetings along with prabhat pherries/ rallies/ oath ceremonies would be undertaken for Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (BBBP). Likewise, he said that celebration of girl child and felicitation of parents, tree plantation on the name of girl child, door to door campaign along with other awareness generation activities like Nukkad natak, street plays, film show and others would also be conducted.
On the occasion Sub Divisional Magistrates Ms Amrit Singh, Mr Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa, Mr Subash Chander and Navneet Kaur Bal, District Program Officer Mr. Amarjeet Singh Bhullar and District Guidance Counselor Mr. Surjit Lall were also present.
