EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS MUST ENCOURAGE ELIGIBLE YOUTH TO GET REGISTERED AS VOTERS: CEO DR. KARUNA RAJU

“A Total of 9 lakh youth from Punjab above the 18 years of age have still not got themselves registered as voters which accounts for less vote percentage

during various elections held in the state.” This was disclosed by the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, DR. S. Karuna Raju here today while addressing the

representatives of various universities.

In his address,Dr. Karuna Raju said that the educational institutions must encourage the eligible youth above 18 years of age to get enrolled as voters. He also

said that the educational institutions should play a important role in this regard. He further said that the voter identity card is the recognized document related to

establishing identity. He also said that the universities and the colleges must appoint representatives in each class for this objective and should also appoint

nodal officers who would act as campus ambassadors to make the youth aware about the significance of getting themselves registered as voters and explain to

them their responsibility. A good citizens of the society, the youth should also be guided about casting their votes without any fear or favor.
