Elaborate arrangements to be made for Punjab State Games for boys

DC holds review meeting to monitor arrangements for the mega event

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr Varinder Kumar Sharma today said that district administration would make elaborate arrangements for proper boarding and lodging of 2400 players arriving in the city during the Punjab State Games for boys (under 17) slated to be held from November 20-22.

Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for this mega sporting extravaganza here at District Administrative Complex today, the Deputy Commissioner said every effort would be made to make this gala event a huge success. He said that foolproof arrangements would be made for comfortable stay of players coming to city for this event. Mr Sharma also constituted a committee under Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Rajeev Verma to monitor the entire arrangements for the function.

It was decided in the meeting that sporting events of Hockey, athletics and handball would be held at DAV College, competitions of football, kabaddi and basketball at Lyallpur Khalsa college, Hockey ar
Surjit Hockey Stadium, Volleyball at Sports school, Weightlifting a Guru Gobind singh stadium, Wrestling, Basketball and Judo in Hansraj Stadium and football at the Doaba Khalsa senior secondary school. Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner was apprised that comfortable stay for students would be ensured at Sai Dass, Parvati Jain, Government Senior Secondary school Ladowali road, Doaba Khalsa senior secondary school, Sports school and Government Model senior secondary school.

Mr. Sharma said that the games would be inaugurated on November 20 at 11 am and these would be concluded on November 22 at 3 pm. The Deputy Commissioner said that elaborate arrangements would be made for the boarding and lodging of the players besides making requisite preparations to ferry the players from venue of event to the place of accommodation. Likewise, Mr. Sharma said that adequate arrangements would also be made to ensure safety and security of the players besides providing them medical treatment during the event.

Prominent amongst other present on the occasion included Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr Rajeev Verma and Mr Paramvir Singh, General Assistant to Deputy Commissioner Mr Baljinder Singh, Assistant Director Youth welfare Captain IS Dhami and District Guidance Counselor Mr Surjeet Lal.
