Chandigarh : A female hockey player of India drowned in Adelaide Beach, Australia.
The 15 year old deceased Nitisha travelled to Australia to play in a school level hockey tournament in the Pacific School Games .It has been reported that five girls were there but four had been saved. She was the resident of Delhi.
The divers have recovered the body , Australian media reported.
Nitisha’s relatives have blamed the school authorities for negligence as the reason for the student’s tragic death.
The Pacific School Games released a statement about the drowning at Glenelg – Graeme Jennings, president of School Sport Australia, said a tragic accident took the life of one of the members of the visiting Indian delegation.
“All involved in the Games send our condolences to the Indian team, family and friends of the deceased student,” he said.
“The thoughts of all in the Pacific School Games family are also with the four members of the team who are still in hospital.
“School Sport Australia is offering full support and assistance to the Indian Delegation.”
