Today is the last date for filing nominations for Panchayat elections in West Bengal. Acting on Calcutta High Court directions, the State Election Commission

had issued a fresh notification on April 22.

Scrutiny of the nominations received today will be held on April 25 and the last date for the withdrawal of candidature is April 28.

The dates for the three-phase polls, which were earlier scheduled for May 1, 3 and 5, have, however, not been declared.
