Fire at CM’s rented house
Karnal
The rented house of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Prem Nagar here caught fire on Wednesday. Khattar used to stay here before the elections. A short circuit is said to be the reason behind the fire.
After the elections, Khattar became the CM but he retained this house at Prem Nagar across the railway lines.
The Prem Nagar-Ram Nagar area is considered a stronghold of the BJP. The CM has assigned the task of listening to the grievances of the people living across the railway lines daily to BJP leader Darshan Singh Sehgal.
“I go at 10.30 am daily to the office at Prem Nagar. At around 9.55 am on Wednesday, I was informed by a neighbour about the fire. So, we informed the fire brigade,” said Sehgal.
He said that a computer, inverter, furniture, some files and books were gutted.
District BJP president Jagmohan Anand, along with party leaders, reached the spot and took stock of the situation. Superintendent of Police Surinder Singh Bhoria, along with an FSL team, also rushed to the spot.
“As of now, short circuit is being considered the reason for the fire. The FSL team has inspected the site,” said Mohan Lal, SHO, City.
Jagmohan Anand pointed to the lack of security at the CM’s residence as no CCTV cameras are installed there. No PCR is also permanently deployed.
