Gadkari faints during event in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar

Mumbai
Union Minister for Transport Nitin Gadkari on Friday fainted on stage during a convocation ceremony at the Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth Agricultural University at Rahuri in Maharashtra’s Ahmednagar district.

Television footage of the event showed the minister becoming uncomfortable before standing up for the National Anthem holding on to Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao for support. Gadkari later lost his balance and slumped on his seat before being helped by his aides.

Doctors at the venue checked on Gadkari and he later walked to his own car after sitting on the stage for around ten minutes. “Had slight medical condition due to low sugar. I have been attended by doctors and I am doing well now. I thank all of you for all the well wishes,” Gadkari said in a message on Twitter.
