Governor discusses ways to improve Amarnath track

Haji Wazir Mohammad Zara, a veteran contractor who has been serving the state PWD and shrine board, met Governor NN Vohra and Umang Narula, CEO of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, at Raj Bhawan here today.

Based on the experience of the works done en route the holy cave of Shri Amarnathji in 2017, Zara put forth his suggestions for further improvements on the tracks and the works required to be done this year.

The Governor appreciated the dedication with which Zara has been supporting the yatra ever since the shrine board was set up and hoped that his team would continue its strong involvement with the success of the 2018 pilgrimage.

Dr Pradeep Kumar Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu, also met the Governor today.

He briefed the Governor about various important academic and administrative matters relating to the functioning of the university and the Krishi Vigyan Kendras. The Governor advised the Vice Chancellor to focus on region-specific technological options with the clear objective of working for doubling farmers’ incomes. He stressed the high importance of sustained high attention being paid towards improving the teaching programmes and achieving tangible outcomes in all the research programmes which benefit the agriculture and its allied sectors in the Jammu division.
