Senior INLD leader Abhay Chautala has accused the Manohar Lal Khattar-led state government of covering up the realty crimes committed by the former Hooda government.

“Three years ago, they had demanded fair probe into land acquisition cases by the Hooda government. All they have done since then is intentionally drag their feet on these issues to give legal loopholes to culprits. The latest example is a matter related to Gurugram acquisition, which was listed today before the Supreme Court. The state counsel asked for more time and the court asked the government to clear its stand on the issue or the matter be sent to the CBI. Khattar, on media demands, sends many cases to the CBI, then why are land fraud cases not being investigated by the central agency?” questioned Abhay.

Addressing the media, he highlighted how the state government was trying to save the former Congress government and several bureaucrats in the 2009 acquisition controversy. The state government had, in 2009, notified acquisition of 1,400 acres of land for the development of residential Sectors 58-63 and commercial Sectors 65-67 in Gurugram by the Haryana Urban Development Authority. Landowners, however, went to court alleging that majority of this land was given to builders, while eventually in 2012, only 87 acres was used, he said.
