Headmaster to be honoured on Teacher’s Day

Lavjeet Singh Grewal, Headmaster of Government Primary School, Dona Nanka village, which is situated near the India-Pakistan border in Fazilka district, has been selected for the national award for his contribution to the field of education. He will be awarded by the President on Teacher’s Day (September 5).
Not even a single student failed since Grewal took over as the Headmaster of the school a decade ago. When the government is thinking of opening nursery wing in the schools, Dona Nanka School has already been running free-of-cost nursery wing for the past eight years. The expenses are borne by the four teachers posted in the school.
The strength of the school has been increased from 112 to 223. He has also set up a library in the school and introduced computer education for the border area students.Students of the school have won many state-level competitions in sports, cleanliness and co-curricular activities. The school has the credit of winning the state prize for five consecutive years in the “Paro Punjab” scheme.
