Hindi is a treasure of knowledge for mankind: Nepal Culture Minister
The Culture Minister of Nepal Jitender Narayan Dev has said that Hindi is a treasure of knowledge not only for Indian sub continent but for whole mankind around the world.
He said that language is not only the medium of expression it is also the essence of literature, philosophy and culture.
Addressing a function organised at Kathmandu on “Vishwa Hindi Diwas” Mr. Dev said that Hindi unites India and Nepal and it is a common binding factor between the people of two nations.
On this occasion Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri said that Vishwa Hindi Diwas is an effort to popularize Hindi across the globe and connect with the friends.
He also read out Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message on “Vishwa Hindi Diwas”.
Deputy Chief of Mission Dr. Ajay Kumar released special editions of some magazines and books. A poetry recitation and cultural programme by the artists of Indian Cultural Center was also organised on this occasion.
A large number of people including eminent academicians, writers, intellectuals and journalists attended the function.
The first Vishwa Hindi Samelan was held at Nagpur on 10th January 1975 to promote Hindi langauge. Since 10th January 2006, “Vishwa Hindi Diwas” is celebrated in all Indian missions abroad to promote and popularise Hindi around the world.
