Honeypreet sent to 6-day police remand
Panchkula
The conspiracy of the August 25 Panchkula violence was hatched during a meeting held at Dera Sacha Sauda in Sirsa on August 17, in which Honeypreet Insan, the dera chief’s adopted daughter, was present.
The Panchkula police submitted this information before Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Rohit Watts while seeking her 14-day police remand.
CJM Rohit Watts sent Honeypreet and her accomplice Sukhpreet Kaur to six-day police remand. Honeypreet claimed innocence and stated that all charges levelled against her were baseless.
Earlier, the Panchkula police moved an application for 14-day remand of Honeypreet to know the whereabouts of the other accused, including Aditya Insan. The police also wanted to recover her mobile phone and take her to other states.
Outside the court complex, Honeypreet’s counsel Pradeep Arya and SK Garg Narwana said there was no point of Honeypreet’s involvement in conspiracy on August 25 as she was present inside the court complex when violence took place.
Arya said, “The police included her name in this case on the basis of disclosure statements, which is not admissible in law. The court has ordered regular medical examination of Honeypreet.”
