Hooda trying to join BJP, won’t succeed: Abhay

Rohtak
Leader of Opposition Abhay Singh Chautala on Sunday alleged that former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was trying to join the BJP, but its leadership would not induct him.

“It is an open secret that Hooda has made the Congress bankrupt and the same will happen to the BJP if he joins that party,” Abhay said during a press conference here.

Hooda had attended a programme hosted by a BJP leader in Delhi on the occasion of Eid, which triggered speculation of his joining the party.

Reacting to Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar’s statement on stopping water flowing into Pakistan, he claimed remarked that the BJP government had not done anything for construction of the SYL canal and its leaders were issuing such statements to diver public attention from the issue.

“The BJP leadership is not pursuing construction of the SYL canal seriously as it does not want to lose Lok Sabha seats in Punjab,” he maintained.

In response to a query, Abhay alleged that the BJP government had looted the state more in about four years of its tenure than the Congress regime did in its two successive tenures lasting 10 years.

Replying to another question, he said whatever was going on in Delhi indicated connivance of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and the BJP. The Union Government should take cognisance of goings-on and intervene in larger interest, he said.
