Taking his government’s digital push further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the World Congress for IT in Hyderabad via video conference.

This event is being organised in India for the first time. He began by launching a skill platform set up by NASSCOM. This platform aims at skill development in

the IT field. Prime Minister then delivered the inaugural address. He said that in the 21st century, digital technology is acting as an enabler in creating a

seamless, integrated world.

In the twenty-first century, technology is becoming an enabler for this concept. It helps us create a seamless, integrated world. A world where geographical

distance no longer remains a barrier in collaborating for a better future.

Prime Minister described India as a technological hotspot. He hailed Digital India India as a programme that has gone beyond being a Government initiative, to

become a way of life. Technology has become an inseparable part of people’s lives and is helping in inclusive growth of the nation. PM reiterated that while

most Government initiatives depend on a Government push, Digital India is succeeding because of the people’s pull.

Today, India is the hot-spot of digital innovation, across all sectors. We not only possess a growing number of innovative entrepreneurs, but also a growing

market for tech innovation. We were and we remain one of the most tech-friendly nations in the world. Digital India is a journey bringing about digital inclusion for

digital empowerment aided by digital infrastructure for digital delivery of services.

“I am happy to inaugurate the World Congress on Information Technology. This event is being held in India for the first time. It has been organized in

partnership with NASSCOM, WITSA and the Government of Telangana,” said PM.

PM asked the IT professionals to keep the interests of common man at top of their priority.

PM also hailed the progress made through programmes like Make in India & Digital India. “We have come a long way with the convergence of Make in India &

Digital India. From only two mobile factories in India in 2014, today there are 118 mobile manufacturing factories operational in India, including some of the best

global brands,” said PM in his address.

The congress is being held in Hyderabad. Sophia the robot, who is the first humanoid to get citizenship as a Saudi national, will also address the congregation.
