From an importer of bullet proof jackets, India now exports these jackets to 100 countries, including some European nations.The credit for this achievement goes to the Indian nuclear scientists of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai.

First, they developed Boron Carbide pipes for their Pressurised Heavy Water Plants for producing electricity from atomic energy. Later, they used this material and some other home grown technologies to fabricate India’s own bullet proof jacket which has been named as ‘Bhabha Kawach’ in honour of Dr. Homi Jehangir Bhabha, the father of India’s nuclear programme.
