Industrial Training Institute, Nangal in District Rupnangar has emerged as centre of excellence.Established in 1962 this ITI , situated on the bank of river Sutlej in the lap of shivalik hills , has been imparting training to develop technical skills among youth, thus enabling them to tap various employment as well as self employment avenues.Principal Lalit Mohan, said that the ITI, Nangal , is perhaps, the most environment friendly institute , virtually providing calm and conducive teaching learning environment.
“The journey which was started with only 200 students in 1962 has now reached to 650 students. This institute is divided into two parts one is ITI Campus and the other is CMC workshop. Since 1962 the hardworking and dedicated teaching staff has been imparting the best knowledge to the students.”, said the Principal while adding that the ITI had a vast alumni, which had been serving the society in different fields after acquiring technical and vocational skills from the institute.
While divulging details, Principal Lalit Mohan, told that at present as many as 38 departments including Machinist composite, machinist composite, machinist grinder, welder, carpenter , turner, fitter, electrician, plumber , refrigeration and air conditioner (R.A.C.) motor mechanic ,stenography English, computer hardware, and data maintenance, were being run by the institute.
“It is worth mentioning that 75% teachers of the ITI were once the students of the same institute”, further added the Principal.
“At the time of establishment of this institute by the Punjab government, the prime object was to produce skilled workforce for NFL Nangal and Bhakhra Bias Management Board. Besides realizing its main objective, the ITI Nangal has been proving a boon for employment generation for the people of the area”, said the Principal while proudly adding that the students of the ITI had been placed in NFL Nangal, BBMB , Rail Coach Factory, Kapurthala, ITC Food India limited Kapurthala, Swaraj Tractor Mohali, Swaraj Majda Rupnagar, Mahindera Tech , Honda Car and Maruti Sazuki like multinational companies.
More than 10 MNCs come here every year and hold the employment fairs which proves to be a boon for the people of the area as it opens up the door of employment opportunities , thus , implementing the “Ghar Ghar Naukari”, flagship programme of the Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh, in true spirit.
Besides, the students of the ITI, Nangal has also been serving the society as Drug Abuse Prevention Officers( DAPO) as well as actively participating in various community service activities and awareness programme, said the Prinaipal.
The prominent people of the area including Sanjay Sahni, Rakesh Nayyer, Ashok Swamipur, Ashok Puri, and Uma Kant Sharma while sharing their views said that the visionary and dedicated efforts put in by Speaker, Punjab Assembly, Rana KP Singh, for regularly upgrading the infrastructure at ITI , had virtually been giving a fillip to the training facilities as well as employment opportunities for the youth of the area.
