Couple of years back, Mahesh Bhatt had announced the remake of his super hit film, Arth featuring Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Raj Kiran and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The filmmaker’s original released in 1982 and it was a path-breaking semi-biographical movie. While announcing the Hindi remake of his own movie, Mahesh had tweeted, “Revathy to give new meaning to ARTH. Sharat Chandra is the architect of this enduring classic of mine.”

Now, it has been reported that Jacqueline Fernandez has been apparently roped in to reprise the role of Smita Patil in Arth remake. A source informs, “The makers reached out to Jacqueline recently and she really liked both, the concept and her role. She is really excited to be a part of the remake of an iconic film like Arth and has given her verbal consent but is yet to sign on the dotted line.” However, an official announcement from the makers is awaited. It would be interesting to see Jacqueline step into the shoes of Smita Patil.
