Jagan Reddy to take oath as Andhra Chief Minister on 30th May

YSR Congress party leader Jaganmohan Reddy who is set to take oath as the new chief minister of Andhra Pradesh today met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.

The meeting was held at Prime Minister Modi’s residence at Lok Kalyan Marg. Reddy presented the Prime Minister with a bouquet and a shawl. Reddy’s YSR Congress party achieved a landslide victory, winning 151 seats in the 175- member Assembly and 22 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh.

YSR Congress Chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will take oath as new Chief Minister of the state on May 30 in Vijayawada. Along with the party leaders, Jagan Reddy met Governor ESL Narasimhan, in Hyderabad on Satrurday and handed over the copy of resolution electing him unanimously the leader of the legislature party.

Later, Jagan Mohan Reddy met Telangana Chief Minister K Chandra Sekhar Rao and his cabinet ministers and invited them for his oath-taking ceremoney on May 30. On the occasion, Chandra Sekhar congratulated Jagan Reddy for his landslide victory in the elections.

Earlier on Saturday, YSR Congress legislature meeting was held in the state party office in Amaravathi and all the newly elected MLAs elected Jagan Mohan Reddy as their leader.

Speaking on the occasion, the YSR Congress Chief exhorted party MLAs to supplement his efforts in achieving good governance in the state.

Meanwhile,In Odisha, Biju Janata Dal Legislature Party will meet today in Bhubaneswar to elect Naveen Patnaik its leader. BJD headed by him has won a decisive victory in the assembly polls bagging 112 of the 146 assembly seats, polls for which were held along with the Lok Sabha elections. The 15th Odisha Legislative Assembly which was formed on June 12, 2014, will complete its term on June 11, 2019.

A delegation of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha, SKM led by its president Prem Singh Golay yesterday called on the Governor, Ganga Prasad, and staked claim to form the new government in the state. Golay was, however, tight-lipped about whom to elect the Leader of the Legislative Party. The SKM was founded in 2013. The party won 10 seats in 2014. This time, out of 32 seats, SKM won 17 giving it a clear majority to form the next government. The 5-term ruling party Sikkim Democratic Front suffered a narrow defeat, winning 15 seats.

Speaking to media at the Raj Bhawan in Gangtok after meeting the Governor, Prem Singh Golay said the party has requested the Governor to invite them to form the next government. SKM sources said the party MLAs have authorised Golay to decide the name of the new Chief Minister.
