Punjab are on the verge of a huge win against Delhi in their Ranji Trophy encounter. Having bowled out Delhi for a paltry 107 in their first innings, Punjab responded with 282 runs, a lead of 175 runs, and then had the hosts staring down the barrel at 106/6 in the second innings at the draw of stumps here today.

For Punjab, skipper Mandeep Singh top-scored with a fine 90. The second highest contribution, 40, came from Gurkeerat Mann. Yuvraj Singh, playing his first match of the season, couldn’t make much of an impression; he was dismissed for a painstaking 24 off 88 balls.

Having conceded a huge lead, Delhi needed to put up a much-improved performance in the second innings but that was not to be. Except veteran Gautam Gambhir at the top, who scored 60, no other batsman hung around for long. Punjab seamer Siddarth Kaul took out Gambhir and skipper Nitish Rana to push Delhi into deep trouble.
