Former Chief Secretary of Delhi and Goa KK Sharma has been appointed as the fourth Adviser to Governor Satya Pal Malik.

A government order issued on Monday evening said retired IAS officer KK Sharma had been appointed as Adviser to the Governor with effect from the date he assumes the charge.
Notably, The Tribune was the first to report on September 6 that Sharma would be appointed to the coveted post.

Sharma, who belongs to the Jammu region, is well-versed with the situation in the state.

Currently, the Governor has three Advisers BB Vyas, K Vijay Kumar and Khurshid Ganai. However, Malik needs more hands to redistribute the work in the light of forthcoming panchayat elections.

The state had come under Governor’s rule on June 20, a day after the BJP had withdrawn support to the PDP-led Mehbooba Mufti government on June 19.

The then Governor had appointed Vyas, who until then was the Chief Secretary to the state government; Vijay Kumar, Special Secretary (Home) in the Union Ministry of Home Affairs; and Ganai, who was holding the post of Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) before his current assignment.
