A special CBI court in Ranchi on Saturday sentenced former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad to 14 years’ imprisonment and fined him Rs 60 lakh in the fourth case of the multi-crore fodder scam that surfaced in the 1990s in undivided Bihar.

The CBI court of Shiv Pal Singh pronounced the quantum of punishment against Lalu and 18 others under the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCA) and various Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) pertaining to the fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 3.13 crore from the Dumka treasury of undivided Bihar (now in Jharkhand). The CBI judge awarded two separate sentences of seven years each to Prasad under the IPC and the PCA.
