Nepal celebrates 5th International Day of Yoga

5th International Day of Yoga is also being celebrated with enthusiasm in Nepal.

The main function was held in the capital Kathmandu where a morning procession was carried out. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Manjeev Singh Puri and other dignitaries participated in the procession. Later a Yoga practice and preaching programme was held at city centre. Prime Minister of Nepal K. P. Sharma Oli graced the occasion as Chief Guest. On this occasion Mr Oli said Yoga is a unique gift from the ancient civilization.

He said Yoga brings soul, speech and action together and helps in making life healthier and happy.Indian Ambassador and other dignitaries also attended the event. In Janakpur city thousands of Yoga enthusiasts including Deputy Prime Minister and Health Minister Upendra Yadav, Governor and Chief Minister of Province 2 joined Yoga Day celebration early in the morning at iconoic Janaki temple. Officials from Embassy of India Kathmandu and Consul General of India Birgunj also participated in the programme.

The event was organised by Embassy of India, Janaki Temple Trust and Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal. In the evening Yoga Utsav will also be held in temple premises. Patanjali Yogpeeth Nepal and many other institutions organising more than two hundred programmes in all 77 districts of the Himalayan nation.
