OFFICERS CONTINUE TO VISIT GRAIN MARKETS FOR MONITORING PROCUREMENT OPERATIONS

83% OF THE TOTAL PROCURED GRAINS LIFTED FROM MANDIS

In wake of the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, the senior officers of district administration today continued their visits in the various grain markets across the district to oversee the procurement operations.

Separate teams lead by Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramveer Singh, Mr. Varinder Pal Singh Bajwa and Ms. Navneet Kaur Bal, District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera and others visited the Partarpura, Bhode Saprai, Jamsher, Lassara, Tehang, Rupewal, Phillaur, Shankar Sarinh, New Grain Market Jalandhar and others to monitor the arrangements for purchase of paddy. The officers reiterated the commitment of the state government to ensure smooth, prompt and hassle free procurement of the food grains in the district. They also asked the staff to ensure that farmers’ coming to the mandis do not face any sort of inconvenience in selling their harvest.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner in a daily review meeting at his office in the morning directed the officers to expedite the process of lifting of crops. He said that the each and every grain of the farmers must be lifted at the earliest, so that the crop doesn’t pile up in the mandis.

The Deputy Commissioner said that since the starting of procurement of grains in the district from October 1 in the state, 1,62,940 metric ton paddy has arrived in the mandis across the district out of which 1, 54, 024 metric ton has been purchased by the various agencies. Meanwhile, today 22870 metric ton of paddy had arrived in the district out of which 22615 metric ton was purchased by the various procurement agencies. Adhering to the state government guidelines to lift the paddy within 48 hours of its purchase the procurement agencies have lifted 83% of the total procured grains by October 8.
