Chandigarh, December 24, 2017 : Discipline bowling spell by pacer Gaurav Sood steers Panchkula District Cricket Association (PDCA) to clinch Late Sh. Rakesh Sanghi Cricket Memorial Trophy Match beating Chandigarh Sports Journalist Association (CSJA) held today at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Sector 21 Panchkula. Man of the Match – Gaurav Sood’s four wickets cemented seven wickets win over visitors. Earlier in the day, CSJA team led by Umesh Sharma won the toss the elected to bat first.

Very first over cost opener Subash Rajta’s dismissal on duck put host on driver’s seat followed by Raj Thakur’s fall in next over. Third wicket stand of Saurabh Duggal (18) and Jaipal Sigh (29) for 45 runs recovered the early damages. As the tail-enders goes down cheaply, Captain Umesh Sharma handy knock of 18 helped CJSA to reach upto 99 at the loss of 9 wickets.

In reply Panchkula District Cricket Association gave a flying start to their inning. Debrutt (27) and Rajminder Singh (30) managed a solid partnership to easily chase the target in fourteenth over. Deepankar Sharda and Ramesh Handa consoled with one wicket each.
Chief Guest Madhu Sanghi, who is also the official scorer for BCCI gave away the prizes to winning team. She appreciated the efforts of PDCA and CSJA for cherishing the memories of her husband Late Rakesh Sanghi.

Sanghi was a journalist with over three decades of experience and a BCCI’s scorer with 350 first class, 50 Test Matches and over 100 ODI. He passed away last month.
