A three-day hands-on-training programme on “Minor Repair, Maintenance and Operation of Laser Land Leveller (LLL)” was organised for LLL operators and farmers by the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU).

Dr Manjeet Singh, Head of the department, said that during Research and Extension Council Meeting of PAU, farmers gave the feedback that they have to pay heavy charges for the calibration and minor repair of laser land levellers. Hence, the objective of the training was to train the operators of laser land levellers and farmers for proper calibration and minor repairs of the laser system. Dr Singh also informed that calibration facility is required in each Krishi Vigan Kendra to support the farmers and custom hiring operators of the laser land levellers. A lecture was also delivered by the representative of an industry on proper calibration of laser system and participants visited local industry manufacturing control system of laser land leveller.

Dr S.S. Thakur, Coordinator, said that farmers were motivated and trained in preliminary field survey before operation of the machine.
