PAU INKS MoA WITH SEVEN COMPANIES
LUDHIANA,
The Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) signed memoranda of agreement (MoA) with seven firms of Nabha and Samana (Patiala), under which the university offered non-exclusive rights to the companies to manufacture and sell “PAU Super Straw Management System (SMS)” technology. The companies include A.D. Agro Works, Nabha; Surendera Agro Industries, Nabha; Punjab Agro Implements, Nabha; N.S. Agro Works, Nabha; Lotey Agriculture Works, Nabha; Bhagwan Agro Industries, Nabha and Baldev Ji Agro Industry, Samana, Patiala. Dr Navtej Singh Bains, Director of Research, PAU, and representatives of the companies inked the pact.
Dr Bains said the University is conducting research and developing several new agriculture machines in order to provide farmers with the low cost technology.
Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education; said the PAU is commercializing its technologies to benefit farmers. In 2017, 47 MoAs were inked, he added.
Dr S.S. Chahal, Adjunct Professor, Technology Marketing and IPR Cell, said the PAU has inked 79 MoAs so far for the commercialization of crop varieties/hybrids, technologies, bio-fertilizers, bio-pesticides, etc. Out of these, 44 have been signed for Super SMS technology, he informed.
Dr G.S. Manes, Senior Research Engineer, said, “PAU Super SMS is an attachment behind the combine. It chops and spreads the straw (coming out of combine) uniformly in the field, which further facilitates working of the subsequent straw management machinery like Happy Seeder.
Dr N.K. Khullar, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology, was also present on the occasion.
