Pragya Pandey, a Ph. D. scholar in the Department of Food and Nutrition, College of Home Science, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), attended a training programme on “Nutrition in a Changing Global Environment,” conducted by The International School of Agricultural Sciences, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem’s Robert H. Smith Faculty of Agriculture, Food and Environment at Rehovot campus from August 28 to September 19, 2017. She was awarded MASHAV scholarship by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Israel. The training was attended by 22 participants from 14 countries. Pragya is pursuing her Ph.D under the supervision of Dr Kiran Grover, Senior Extension Specialist (Food and Nutrition), PAU. She informed Pragya is working on the “Utilization of black carrot for the development of functional foods.”
Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU; and Dr Jatinder Kaur Gulati, Head, Department of Food and Nutrition and Dean, College of Home Science, congratulated Pragya for this achievement.
Pragya is also a recipient of “INSPIRE” fellowship, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, for doctoral research. The training programme provided her a deep insight into multiple aspects of nutritional challenge that was demonstrated during this course period. She also got an opportunity to exchange her research experience with worldwide scientists and policy makers that would help her in improving her vision and understanding scenario of different approaches being practiced globally towards sustainable development with the goal of enhancing nutrition and health for the future generation
