PAU STUDENT AWARDED COMMONWEALTH FELLOWSHIP
LUDHIANA,
Neha Aggrawal, a Ph.D student in the Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), has been awarded the “Commonwealth Split- Site Fellowship 2017” funded by the UK government and managed by the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in United Kingdom. The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan (CSFP) was established in 1959 and is one of the largest and most prestigious scholarship schemes for international studies.
Neha is doing her Ph.D under the guidance of Dr S.S. Banga, ICAR National Professor, PAU. Her Ph.D research is on “Disruption and delineation of the Brassica fruticulosa introgressions in Brassica juncea L. Coss.” She will be working on reducing the linkage drag through irradiation and identifying the extent of introgressed segements of Brassica fruticulosa in the background of B. junceafor aphid resistance. She will pursue part of her studies at the University of Leicester, UK, with Dr Haslop-Harrison.
