Performance audit must, says Gadkari
New Delhi
Emphasising that people in authority should focus on performance, ferret innovative ways and adapt technology at work, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari today said modern techniques should be put to use to ensure timely delivery of services in the country.
Sharing his experiences in getting things moving through the bureaucratic labyrinth with innovation and available human resource, the minister said no leader can deliver without carrying people with him and citizens in general do recognise credibility.
Delivering the 31st Intelligence Bureau Endowment Lecture, the minister said unfortunately, while political parties selected candidates for elections based on their ability to win elections, little attention was paid to train those in public life how to be effective administrators or bear managerial skills.“We have financial audit but there is no system of performance audit… which is more important but system does not allow out-of-the-box thinking…” Gadkari said.
