Stepping up his attack against the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today alleged that Kartarpur went to Pakistan at the time of Partition in 1947 because the party’s leaders of that time had no vision and respect for Sikh sentiments.

Addressing a rally in Hanumangarh, he said Congress leaders’ failure to arrange for Indians’ visit to the holy Sikh shrine of Kartarpur Sahib in Pakistan despite ruling the country for seven decades showed the utter neglect, ignorance and lack of vision the Congress had for Indian culture.

“My destiny has been to fix Congress’ wrongs. The holy work of Kartarpur corridor has also come to me. We should ask the Congress, why they had let Kartarpur go to Pakistan at the time of Partition. We should ask the Congress why they had not got the corridor built in the past 70 years,” Modi said. He said the reason that work on the corridor was being done now was due to people who had voted the BJP government to power.
