PM Modi launches Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Mandhan Yojana

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday launched a pension scheme ‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan for unorganized sector workers in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This mega pension scheme ensures old age protection for unorganized Workers, whose monthly income is Rs 15,000/ per month or less.It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, where each subscriber under the PMSYM, shall receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3000- per month after attaining the age of 60 years. A contribution matching the age specific contribution of the beneficiary will be made by the Central Government.

The nation on Tuesday saw another example of making the impossible possible when Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a mega pension scheme for workers in the unorganized sector, the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana at Vastral in Gujarat. The scheme will provide monthly pension of Rs. 3000 to the employees of unorganised sector after they attain the age of 60 years. A contribution matching the age specific contribution of the beneficiary will be made by the Central Government. On this occasion, Prime Minister also distributed pension card to the beneficiaries under ‘Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan Yojana’ and interacted with some of the beneficiaries. This mega social security scheme was announced by the Centre as part of this year’s budget.Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Modi said that 42 crore workers from un-organised sectors are eligible for this pension scheme by contributing Rs 55 to Rs 200 monthly. PM Modi said that the scheme is dedicated to the workers of the country, and it is like a tilak on the forehead of “Maa Bharati”.

Prime Minister also said that Government had introduced the mega pension scheme in the interim budget for 2019, to ensure old age protection for unorganized workers. Slamming the opposition, the PM said  that previous govts had ignored the poor while this govt has launched many welfare schemes for the poor. And people from all across the country hailed the scheme as game changer.

This mega pension scheme ensures old age protection for unorganized Workers, whose monthly income is Rs 15,000/ per month or less. It is a voluntary and contributory pension scheme, where each subscriber under the PMSYM, shall receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3000- per month after attaining the age of 60 years.

A contribution matching the age specific contribution of the beneficiary will be made by the Central Government. At least ten crore workers in the unorganized sector will be benefitted in next five years.The Prime Minister said that a contribution, matching the equal amount as that of the beneficiary, will be made by the Union Government.The PM-SYM scheme along with the health coverage provided under ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and life and disability coverage provided under ‘Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana will ensure comprehensive social security coverage for the workers in the unorganized sector at their old age.Prime Minister interacted directly with the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna in Ahmedabad where the PM heard reactions about the scheme.Union minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said that things have changed for better and something which was ‘Na-Mumkin’, has now become ‘MUMKIN’ under PM MODI’s leadership. He said that close to 14.5 Lakh People have registered Under PM-SYM.

While Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) was also launched in various parts of the country. Union Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj, Minister of Electronics and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad, and Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan launched PM-SYM in Delhi. Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad highlighted initiatives by the govt for digital transactions under Digital India. He said that now beneficiaries receive their fund in their accounts through DBT. While, Minister of External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj said that as a mark of respect, Govt chose the term ‘Shram-Yogi’ for beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana, under which receive minimum assured pension of Rs 3000- per month.Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan said that praised Prime MInister Narendar Modi for his committment towards welfare of poor.Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the Pradhan Mantri Shram-Yogi Maandhan Yojana in Gorakhpur.Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Annapurna Dham Trust in Adalaj and offered prayers at the Dham. PM Modi also laid the foundation stone of a Shikshan Bhavan and a Vidyarthi Bhavan in Adalaj town of Gandhinagar.

Addressing the function, Prime Minister said that society needs to be strengthened to see the country on the path of progress. Hailing the role played by the society for welfare of common man, prime minister said it was the Leuva Patel community, led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, which started the Amul movement and benefited people coming from all castes and classes in the villages of Gujarat.PM said that our attempt is that the state should do the administrative work, and society should be empowered so that it can carry out such social works beneficial for the people at large. Prime Minister Modi said that India has a rich history of societies rising to the occasion and taking the lead when it comes to solving the challenges.
