PM Modi: No religion teaches people to be intolerant & violent
Prime Minister said that all major religions and sects in the world were born and brought up in India.
Prime Minister Narenda Modi and Jordanian King, King Abdullah II today attended special address on Islamic heritage and promoting moderation. Representatives from Islamic institutions of all denominations from across the country attended the event.
The event also witnessed the release of the Urdu translation of a book titled ‘A Thinking Person’s Guide to Islam’. The book was authored by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal, a cousin of the King.The King is known for his global initiative to fight radicalisation and terrorism.
Addressing the event, Prime Minister said that all major religions and sects in the world were born and brought up in India. Either, they are Gautam Budh or Mahatma Gandhi they all gave the message of peace.
Slamming those who misuse religion for radicalisation, he said that the extremism only damages the cause of that religion for which they claim to work.He said that fight against terrorism is not a fight against any religion and that no religion advocates terrorism.
Prime Minister said that Unity in Diversity is the unique characteristic of this country. He also said that country believes in ‘Vasu Dev Kutumb’. He stressed that Indian democracy is celebrations of our age-old plurality.
Prime Minister also said India and Jordan can together for de-radicalisation. He said that India stands together with Jordan in its efforts of de-radicalisation.
