Pooja Dhanda claimed the gold in the 59kg category at the Dan Kolov-Nikola Petrov Wrestling in Ruse, Bulgaria. In the men’s freestyle, Bajrang Punia made it to the final. He beat Iulian Gergenov of Russia 13-6 in the pre-quarterfinals. Bajrang got the better of another Russian opponent, Eduard Grigorev, 2-0 in the quarterfinals.

In the semifinals, he beat Niurhin Skarbin of Belarus 8-6. Sandeep Tomar lost his final bout in the 61kg category to finish with silver. Nurislam Sanayev of Kazakhstan beat Tomar by technical superiority in just one minute and 25 seconds.
