Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today ridiculed Rahul Gandhi for criticising the Goods and Services Tax (GST). He said he was certain that the Congress vice-president neither had any knowledge about GST nor had he bothered to study its implementation in detail.

Talking to mediapersons here today, Jaitley, who is the BJP incharge of the Gujarat elections, said that before criticising GST and describing it as “Gabbar Singh Tax”, Rahul Gandhi should remember that all the Finance Ministers of Congress-ruled states were also party in taking “unanimous decisions” on GST rates and their implementation. “All of them unanimously approved the implementation of GST,” he said.

He also decried criticism of the demonetisation move and said the Congress, which had not taken any step to flush out black money during the 10 years of its rule, had no right to talk about demonetisation.

Asserting that development would remain the main plank of the BJP campaign in the Gujarat elections, Jaitley said it was shocking to see that the Congress had chosen to attack development.
