The Congress on Tuesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP for the cash crunch in various ATMs, with party chief Rahul Gandhi saying the “terror of note ban” had again gripped the nation and accused Modi of destroying the country’s banking system.

The Congress chief, who is in his Parliamentary constituency Amethi, alleged that Modi “snatched” Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes from every Indian’s pocket and “gave” it to Nirav Modi.

He also said Modi was not uttering a single word in Parliament, which he was not facing, and challenged that he would not be able to face Parliament for even 15 minutes.

“Modi ji has destroyed the banking system of the country,” Gandhi said on the reported cash crunch in some ATMs. Taking to Twitter, he said in Hindi, “Understand the deceit of note ban, your money in Nirav Modi’s pocket. Modiji’s ‘Mallya maya’, the terror or noteban is again spreading. The country’s ATMs are again empty, what has been done to the country’s banks.”

He also alleged that Narendra Modi did not speak a word “after Nirav Modi fled the country with Rs 1,000 crore”.

“ATMs around the country have gone dry and people are facing yet another cash crunch. Are we seeing the further side-effects of demonetisation again? Or is this a deliberate move by the Modi Govt?,” the Congress said on its official Twitter handle.

Congress communications in-charge Randeep Surjewala took a dig at the PM, saying “while the ‘saheb’ is enjoying abroad, the country’s people are looking for cash in banks”.
