Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh will on Saturday attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Council of the Heads of Government meeting in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Earlier on Friday, the defence minister paid floral tributes to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at his statue at Shastri street in Tashkent.

Lal Bahadur Shastri breathed his last in Tashkent on January 11, 1966 a day after the Tashkent Agreement was signed between India and Pakistan post 1965 War.

Raksha Mantri also visited the school built in the memory of the former PM and interacted with the children studying there. He expressed happiness on noticing their love for India and Hindi language.

Raksha Mantri also said that India’s association with the SCO members will help us in greater economic & counter-terrorism cooperation.
