Union Minister Rao Inderjit laid the foundation stone of an underpass at Railway Double Crossing in the city on Tuesday. The project would cost Rs21 crore and benefit people of several colonies on the other side of the crossing.

“Of the total cost, Rs14 crore will be incurred by the Centre and the remaining by the state government. The construction will be completed in 18 months,” said Rao while addressing the people.

The minister said he had made all-out efforts to get this long-standing demand met. “I called on Railway Minister Piyush Goel several times to apprise him of the problems faced by locals. Finally, I succeeded to get the underpass project approved,” he said.
