Reduction in corporate tax after exemptions end, says FM Arun Jaitley
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that corporate tax rate can be brought down to the promised 25 per cent only after all the exemptions given to industry have
ended.
He told the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry that the government’s emphasis is on agriculture, rural infrastructure, education and
health.
He added that agriculture needs investment and government will focus on that over the next few years.
He said that in the last two years, the government implemented difficult reforms and India is making progress despite a global economic recession. Domestic
demand and exports have grown and all indicators on the economy are positive.
Referring to the healthcare plan announced in the Budget, the Finance Minister said its is a very ambitious plan and government is committed to its
implementation.
